The Real Deal - Fresh, Flavourful and Authentic Thai Cuisine This is a long-overdue review of what has become my go-to favourite Thai restaurant. I've visited about 5 times since discovering it around two years ago. That might not seem like many visits, but there's something you need to know. I don't live in Orillia. I don't even live close to Orillia. I live near Peterborough, about a 2-hr drive away. But I always make sure to find a reason to pass through Orillia a couple of times a year so I can visit Thai Plate. Why would I drive all the way to Orillia for Thai food? The answer is really simple. I've never experienced Thai cuisine I enjoyed ss much as Thai Plate. I've tried Thai restaurants in York Region, in the Peterborough area, and many in Toronto. But I've not found one that compares to Thai Plate. It's my understanding that Thai Plate was once actually located in Toronto, and that the owners opened the Orillia location as a second one. At some point later, they decided to make the move to Orillia, and close the Toronto location. So what is it that makes the food here stand out for me? Two things. First, very fresh and high-quality ingredients, which produce more intense flavours. Second, more complex recipes, containing more ingredients, resulting in more intricate flavours. Sure, the names of the dishes are familiar. But one taste tells you they contain many more ingredients than you've experienced before when eating the same dish elsewhere. If you've never tried Thai food, you're in luck. And If you already know you love Thai food as much as I do, Thai Plate is a must-try. I highly recommend it.
Great food! great staff! Found this place beginning of the year...gone back at least 8 times when in the area. Never disappointed with the food or the people. Highly reccommend it. Try the mango salad
This place was AMAZING. All the staff were so sweet, the service was good, the boba was so yummy. I as a vegetarian have rarely been able to eat new foods but when I came here I saw on their menu it has a tomato beside all the meatless options! Thank you for giving me a new experience ? p.s get the coconut sticky rice with mango! so. good.
Great food! I have been to Thai Plate, quite a number of times, over the years. I can't think of a single time, that I was disappointed. The lunch specials are a hit, great value too! Some of my favourite dishes are: cashew chicken, coconut rice, the wontons, and of course the mango salad.
When I come home to visit family and friends I always try to stop in to the Thai Plate. The food is fresh and delicious with lots of choices on the menu. The staff are pleasant and the restaurant is clean. Highly recommend.
I tried Thai Plate for the first time last week and was very impressed. I was so impressed I decided to try more. I was even happier this time. Food was fresh, flavourful, and delicious. All special instructions were easy to add and were followed. Delivery was made easy and was even given a call by the driver before he delivered it to confirm the drop off. (As there is no live delivery update.) Finally, portions were a good size especially for the price of the dishes. Deffinately my new go-to for take out in Orillia.
I've been going to the Thai ate since they opened. It's an amazing restaurant! Food, service, quality and quantity...all fantastic! Highly recommended - a top restaurant in Orillia.
This food is absolutely delicious! We got basil beef, Thai spicy noodles, deep fried Shrimp,and. Green curry chicken and this is better than the restaurants in Toronto by far! Everything is amazing!!
We have ordered from Thai Plate (and dined in the restaurant) numerous times. The food is always amazing, and the service is fabulous. Our family favourites are the basil eggplant, pad thai, ginger beef, coconut rice and the mango salad. But anything we have ever had here is fresh and delicious. Consistently superb Thai food.
It is the best. We drive all the way from Meaford to have the wonderful experience eating at the Thai Plate. The staff is so very friendly and we always looking forward to coming back. We will be back soon!
When we get take out, it is almost always Thai Plate!! The food is so good, the people are friendly and best of all, Thai Plate has always done a great job accommodating my gluten allergy. So delicious!!
I enjoy soup … I moved here from Toronto & have experienced the flavours of many types of Oriental Cuisine … Winton Soup is always most commonly or than Miso Soup … I ordered a Noodle wonton soup take out this evening which came in 2 containers 1 Noodle 1 Soup … I knew then that my Soup was going b everything I wanted it to b & it was & is one of the BEST WON TON NOODLE SOUPS I have had … I will probably have 3 helpings of this soup for myself. We are so lucky in Orillia to have Thai Plate. This is a family run restaurant that is absolutely incredible. The food is fresh, the service is fantastic, and the prices are more than fair for the quality you get.
I don't go out for food anywhere in Orillia anymore. Most every restaurant is overpriced and disappointing. Thai Plate is my favorite restaurant. Dollar for Dollar the best restaurant in town!
Although it is not April 13th yet we wish Thai Plate a happy Canadian new year for 2022!
Thai Plate is amazing! Delicious food, great prices, friendly staff! Can’t wait until COVID is over so we can enjoy the Friday Buffet again! I miss it so much, but until then we’ll continue to get takeout!
Favourite items are Green & Red Curry Chicken, LOOVE the spring rolls and mango salad is always so fresh! You won’t be disappointed!

Excellent food, have never been disappointed! We miss our Thai restaurant in Wasaga Beach, and this has made a nice transition to a new hometown. Just got back from 2 weeks in Thailand, and the food is comparable to what we ate over there. Highly recommend the green curry with coconut rice.
We don’t regularly order takeout, but when we do it’s Thai plate. Best authentic, made from scratch ethnic food available in Orillia, hands down. Both my husband and I work out of Toronto offices, and we know fantastic Thai cuisine, this is certainly comparable, local and competitively priced. There are two other Thai restaurants in Orillia, and there is literally none who come close to the food at Thai plate, incomparable and not even on the same platform. Don’t waste your time, order here! Coconut soup, Thai eggplant, Chinese broccoli, Thai fish, noodle dishes all fantastic! The kids gravitate to the spring rolls and cold rolls, yum apple salad or pineapple salad & the Thai bubble tea for dessert! We have tried near every menu item that is pescatarian, and are yet to be disappointed. Caveat here is we always take away, and don’t eat in restaurant as a general rule! My 2 cents ?? One thing that could be improved would be adding khao soi to the menu!!

thai plate is amazing!!!!!!!!!!! I totally recommend it i am a kid just so you know i have never done a review and i also recommend the bubble tea it is awesome well at least from my perspective i love thai plate I wish i could eat there everyday. my favorite dishes are the shrimp coconut soup, the veggie spring rolls and all the seafood dishes because i don't like other kinds of meat

I was pleasantly surprised by the amazing food this restaurant has to offer. Being from Toronto I did not expect to find such a gem in Orillia. The food was spectacular, service was impeccable and the over all atmosphere was amazing. I recommend this restaurant to all my friends. It is my new spot to take my guests from Toronto out for dinner just to make them jealous.
The famous Thai hospitality can be enjoyed right here in Orillia. You feel so welcome the moment you step in, and when they set the food down in front of you, it feels like you are dining at their home. So delicious, so fresh, so good.

The Thai Plate is our favourite restaurant for delicious Thai food. The prices are reasonable and the food portions are very good. The servers are always friendly and service is generally very timely. The Friday lunch buffet is also an excellent deal with lots of variety, but get there early as it is popular!
If you have not yet experienced Thai Plate on Memorial Avenue in Orillia you are missing out!!!! It is SO good:) Coconut Rice is amazing and every plate I've tried has been delicious!! You will not be disappointed. Treat yourself.
In the beautiful scenic city of Orillia lying between Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe is a unique restaurant serving authentic and freshly prepared Thai food with renowned Thai hospitality. I had the pleasure to dine at this restaurant where I enjoyed the large generous portion served. I must mention Decha and Songpon who make sure customers are well satisfied with the vast menu of food items. There is ample of parking and they cater to all groups big and small. For those who prefer outdoors, there enough room on the patio. I always make it a point to stop by when I am in the area on business. this is our go to Thai Restaurant - Incredible Authentic food. I brought my sister in law here to test it out - she is a foodie from Thailand, She gave it her approval! That's how good it is. My husbands favorite is the wonton soup. I love the pad Thai and the Kids love the fried rice. We all love the fresh vegetable dishes.
