Vice-President’s Message
Hello Everyone:
Welcome to a new year of the OBWA. I'm really excited to be part of this year's amazing Executive Committee, and to bring our members a very enjoyable year.
It is my distinct honour to be working with Susan Zaroski, Secretary extra-ordinaire. She's the genius behind the bulletin each month, takes all the notes at our meetings and keeps us (me especially) in line!
Leah Cavanaugh, Speaker (and Fun) Coordinator brings so much enthusiasm to our monthly meetings. Her insights and graciousness keep the Executive on track.
Sharon VanNoort is happily stepping into the PAST President role - you did a great job, Sharon. As you continue to safe-guard our finances as Treasurer, I will appreciate your guidance and wisdom.
New to the team is Lynn Peterson, Membership Coordinator. Don't let the quiet demeanor fool you - she has a great sense of humour and fabulous ideas.
Rounding out the roster is Corry Ticknor, Social Media. We are pleased to have her on board, and if you saw any of the posts after our AGM, that was her!
We, as the Executive Committee, are here to facilitate the meetings for you each month. Remember to bring your networking materials - and "Work the net" . I challenge you to sit with someone different every month - that's 10 new people to add to your network and when you add them, you add their network, etc. etc. etc.
As always, suggestions are welcome - there's a comments bag at the Welcome desk each month. Feel free! You can reach out to any of the Executive any time. Our contact information is on the website.

October Dinner Meeting will be held on October 11, 2023 at
Kelseys Roadhouse Restaurant,
405 Memorial Ave. Orillia, L3V 0T7
The restaurant will be following the Covid Protocol that is currently in place
at their establishment

Our RSVP numbers are submitted to Kelseys that day as they need to know
numbers for staffing
If you reserved your dinner spot and can’t attend please contact us right away so that
we can try and fill the spot with someone else that may be on a waiting list.
As always we welcome all women to the OBWA and we are encouraging our members
to bring a guest or two to our October meeting!
We have brought back some of our old traditions to our OBWA Dinner Meetings! Toonies for Toiletries where the money collected goes for hygiene products for those in need in the community
This October let us show the Sharing Place our support as they are desperately in need of Donations. We will be collecting non-perishable food items and as well Clean Reusable Grocery Bags which we will donate to the Orillia Sharing Place.
As well we will be doing a 50/50 draw at each meeting! Winner of last month’s 50/50 draw of $31.00 was Kim Kneeshaw
Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Let’s all use our best costume ideas and dress up in Halloween Costumes or fun hats for our
October Dinner Meeting!
This month’s meeting only: OBWA members bring in a bag of Halloween Candy to be donated to Uplifting Blessings and we will waive your $5 event charge!
There will be an event charge of $5 for members and $10 for non members payable at the door
5:50 – You will order and pay for your meal plus your tip at the restaurant
5:30 – Networking – please bring your business cards & brochures with you
5:50 – Vice- President’s Welcome
6:00 p.m. – Members will order their dinners
6:15 pm – Business of the Month – Erin Dooks Independent Director with Thirty-One Gifts
6:20 p.m. – 30 Second intro & our business updates
(please respect each other by keeping to the time limit)
7 p.m. – Halloween Costumes and fun times with Leah
Starting at our October meeting and running until September 2024 we will be honouring our OBWA members in good standing with Birthdays in that month. When you attend our Dinner Meeting the month of your Birthday we will waive your $5 event fee. Those having Birthdays in May, June, July and August will have their event fee waived accordingly. Please make sure to let Susan Zaroski know the month and day of your Birthday so she can get you on our list. She will be sitting at the door at the meeting to take the information from you.

Please note: Memberships were due September 1st , 2023 & need to be paid for you to be a member in good standing. $100 membership fee will keep you a member in good standing until August 31,2024 . Members have the privilege of posting on social media & have their information about their business and themselves on our website as well as posting on Face Book.
