November 2021
President’s Message
As I type this we are fully into our wet fall season, leaves are falling and a chill is in the air.
I'm also looking forward to those comforting warm foods, and connecting with family and friends I’ve missed during the busy summer season,
As you read this Bulletin, you will notice that this month we have scheduled an in person dinner meeting at a local restaurant in order to gather and honour our veterans. It’s a baby step, but I feel we are moving in the right direction. Hopefully by the New Year we will be back on track and filling our chosen venue to past numbers for our monthly dinner meetings. That is the goal of your executive, to give you the dinner, speaker, socializing and networking experience that you deserve.
The last 2 years have been hard on all of us to different degrees, and personally I need to be able to move forward in celebrating and supporting our local women. You do not need to be a paid member to attend. Guests are always welcome!
We are always looking for sponsors to help us fund our Virtual Gala taking place on Wednesday evening December 8th. Please contact any of our executive members if you can sponsor or know someone else who can.
From the bottom of my heart, I’d like to thank Sheila Haiden, our Vice President for her valuable input, hard work and dedication to the OBWA Executive as she steps down from her position. Also, Andrea Sullivan, Leah Cavanaugh, Ronda Hales, Shelle Hossack and Susan Zaroski for their hard work and dedication in keeping our organization up and running during these difficult and challenging times. Many thanks to Charlene Mackenzie for creating our Zoom Membership Meetings and the wonderful ladies who attend monthly. It was a joy to see this year’s Young Women of the Year Nominees during last month’s Zoom Meeting.
Much love and respect to all. Stay well and safe.
With Warmest of Regards,
Sharon L. Van Noort, OBWA President
