President’s Message
As I type this we are fully into our fall season. Enjoy the colours while we can. Hopefully there will still be lots of warm days to come.
I apologize to those who were excited about having a sit down dinner meeting in October. We were very hopeful, but with numbers not being guaranteed (20 minimum) it was considered best by a majority vote of your executive to play it safe and not be caught in the unfortunate situation of being responsible for unpaid meals.
In saying this, we are making arrangements to honour Remembrance Day as we always have, in person on Wednesday November 10th, with a nice meal and a guest of honour representing the military. Due to the government rules pertaining to public indoor dining, we are required to follow the protocol as set by the venue, possibly the Best Western Plus Mariposa Inn & Conference Centre.. More info to follow in the November Bulletin. You do not need to be a paid member to attend. Please think about inviting a friend to share our important evening.
Currently your executive is in the midst of planning a Zoom Meeting for Wednesday October 13th at 7:30pm. Our special guests will be our 2021 Gala Young Women of the Year Nominees Please plan on attending as we will be announcing more about our 2021 Virtual Gala and plans for future meetings.
We are always looking for sponsors to help us fund our Virtual Gala. Contact any of our executive members if you can sponsor or know someone else who can.
From the bottom of my heart, I’d like to thank Sheila Haiden, Shelle Hossack, Ronda Hales, Susan Zaroski, Leah Cavanaugh, Andrea Sullivan (welcome back) for their hard work and dedication to keep our organization up and running during the pandemic. Re-introducing in person dinner meetings brings its own challenges for us too. Also, many thanks to Charlene Mackenzie for creating our Zoom Membership Meetings and the wonderful ladies who attend monthly.
Much love and respect to all. Stay well and safe.
With Warmest of Regards,
Sharon L. Van Noort, OBWA President
