President’s Message
The middle of August already. I hope everyone has been having a fabulous summer!
Please be sure to read your OBWA Bulletins, Facebook posts and remember we are still here hoping to get back on track with in person events in the near future.
September 15 is now the deadline for nominations for the Women of the Year. It would be lovely to publicly recognize the deserving women who work so hard in our communities, so let’s get those nominations rolling in!! As posted on our Facebook page and media, we are proud to report that we have 3 terrific young ladies nominated for our 2021 Young Woman of the Year.
Currently your executive is in the midst of planning a Zoom Meeting for Wednesday September 8th at 730pm. Guest speaker to be announced. Please plan on attending as we will be announcing more about our 2021 Virtual Gala and plans for future meetings.
At this time we are also planning a sit down dinner meeting for Wednesday October 13th at the Best Western Plus Mariposa Inn & Conference Centre. Be sure to confirm your interest on the Facebook page as we need 20 minimum seats filled. Covid Protocol will be in place as with any restaurant. You do not need to be a paid member to attend. More details to follow during our September Zoom Meeting.
Information regarding renewing your 2021 Membership Fees is pinned to the top of our Facebook page or if you need to speak to one of our executive members be sure to private message or email us.
As there have been some inquiries, I will continue to send out individual emails to members as a reminder of when their 2021 discounted membership fees are due. We would like to keep everything as organized, current and up to date as possible and I thank you in advance for your assistance in this endeavour. If you don’t hear from me please put a bug in my ear via email.
From the bottom of my heart, I’d like to thank Sheila Haiden, Shelle Hossack, Ronda Hales, Susan Zaroski, Leah Cavanaugh, Andrea Sullivan (welcome back) for their hard work and dedication to keep our organization up and running during the pandemic. Without these ladies we would not continue to have our Galas, Zoom Meetings, updated emails, membership lists, Facebook and website posts, and everything in between. And, many thanks to Charlene Mackenzie for creating our Zoom Membership Meetings.

Please Note: The majority of OBWA Members now will have to renew their membership in order to be a member in good standing. Being a paid-up member in good standing allows you to post on our OBWA Face Book Group. We encourage all paid up members to post there to promote their businesses. Posting in our FB Group lets our members know who you are, what your business is all about and is the spot to promote specials etc. We will be updating our Orillia Business Women’s Website and only those with paid up memberships will be included on our website. Also please take a few minutes to check out what information we have on our website for you and if any changes or updates need to be made.
