President’s Message
May is here! Some warm days, flowers popping up in our gardens and the feeling of being able to enjoy the green outdoors again, as limited as it may be. Hopefully May 20th will bring an end to this current lockdown, with lots of 1st dose vaccines given and we will be able to see a glimmer of light at the end of this Covid tunnel.
Sunday May 2nd was World Laughter Day and I hope you were able to share a chuckle or two with your loved ones.
Some important days to acknowledge this month are: Mental Health Week (May3-9), National Child and Youth Mental Health Day (May 7), National Nurses Week (May 10-16) and Mother’s Day (May 9), along with many health awareness days.
For our Zoom meeting on Wednesday May 12th, at 730pm we will be inviting previous recipients of the Young Women of the Year Award to join us along with our first YWOTY recipient, Lisa Brooking. It will be great to hear what the young women have been doing since they were awarded for their commitment to their education and community. Please reach out to join us and have a few smiles and hopefully belly laughs with us. Please join us even if it’s just by audio!! We miss you!!!!
As there have been some inquiries, over the next couple of weeks I will be sending out individual emails to members as a reminder of when their 2021 discounted membership fees are due. We would like to keep everything as organized, current and up to date as possible and I thank you in advance for your assistance in this endeavour. Much love and respect to all. Stay well and safe.
With Warmest of Regards,
Sharon L. Van Noort, OBWA President
“We have to be our own best friends. I think women have to care about other women and fight for those who can’t. I think it is one of the most important fights to lead right now… It’s not a fight against anyone — it’s a fight for women.” – Anne
