President’s Message
Help us celebrate our women on International Women’s Day on the 8th! International Women's Day is sponsored worldwide by the United Nations. However, the UN did not originate this special celebration. The roots of this celebration goes back to the late 1800's and early 1900s. It grew from women's socialist movements and early women's trade union groups. The first International Women's Day was held March 19, 1911. Women socialists and trade unions held an earlier Women's Day on the last Sunday in February, 1908. The event grew from there, and has been celebrated annually since. The focus is upon women workers, and advancing women's rights in the workforce, politics and society.
Remember our clocks spring ahead on March 14th and March 17, St. Patrick's Day.
The astronomical start of spring can fall on March 19, 20 or 21. This year it will begin March 20th.

I know we were hoping that 2021 would end the lockdowns but unfortunately we are once again in the mists of one. Supporting each other is more important now than ever. Buy local and from an independent business woman if possible. If we don’t support each other who will?
Our membership is slowly increasing, dues being paid at a discounted price, but most importantly we are looking forward to seeing you all in person again.
In the meantime, please be sure to join us for this month’s Zoom Meeting. Maintaining that connection is so important. I know for me it helps with my mental wellbeing during this most difficult time. It will be very informative for all and it will also be lovely to see your smiles or even hear your voices again..
See you Wednesday March 10th at 730pm. Please join us even if it’s just by audio. We miss you!!!!
Much love and respect to all. Stay well and safe.
With Warmest of Regards, Sharon L. Van Noort, OBWA President
