President’s Message

Well ladies I am sad to say this is my last personal president’s message to you. I have thoroughly enjoyed my five years or so as president and vice president. This is such an amazing group filled with such wonderfully diverse personalities and businesses. Please keep coming back and bringing your joy and laughter. You will be in good hands with the executive. Andrea Sullivan will also be retiring from the executive after a record ten plus years. Thank you, Andrea, for your hard work and dedication.

As you have probably seen, if you are following the OBWA on face book, we have all the nominees for Woman and Young Woman of the Year. Their biographies have been sent to the three judges and you can read the condensed versions of the bios. on face book. These Women of Distinction are so different but so similar in that their intentions of helping others within your community and beyond are incredible. It will be so wonderful when we can bring together the nominees, their families and friends, and members of the OBWA to announce the recipients and celebrate with all the special women. It is such an exciting night. There was no way that a pandemic was going to stop this event!

After the OBWA business meetings, which were held via zoom, the executive has been meeting virtually to discuss business affairs and we are keeping abreast of many issues. The biggest concern is to get the vacancies on the executive filled. At the time of this bulletin we had not received any messages expressing interest in the positions of Executive Assistant, Social Media or Membership Coordinator. This means that the current remaining executive members will have to increase their already heavy workload. Please consider joining the team. I will be an ex officio member, past president, and will help when needed.

It is still up in the air when we can resume our regular business/dinner meetings. Of course, we will break for the summer and hopefully things will be back to “normal” in September. Please keep following the group on face book for important details and for business postings by the members.

Our next zoom meeting is on Wednesday, June 10 at 7:00pm. You will find the details further on in the bulletin. We have something exciting planned. We will be having two draws for those paid members who attend the zoom meeting of two $25 gift cards from local businesses! Let’s see if we can fill the screen with lots of beautiful faces. I look forward to seeing you in September if not before. Have a wonderful summer and be well and stay safe.

“What do I have to say as I head into retirement … so long, farewell, sayonara, good-bye. No really, the many, many, many, years (10 yrs at least), sitting on the Exec. Committee as your Membership Coordinator, have had its ups and downs like any position, but overall, I have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful women, and watch greatness happen within our group. It’s not good-bye – it’s see you later; my time has come to be a true member of this outstanding organization, where I can grow my new properties business and build larger and stronger bonds within the Community.
