JUNE 2018 - OBWA PATIO PARTY
The Orillia Business Women’s Association (OBWA) meets every second Wednesday of the Month (September thru June) at the Best Western Mariposa INN and Conference Centre at 400 Memorial Ave. Orillia for networking events, fun and delicious food.
OBWA PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Well, the gala is over for another year and we are going to be enjoying our final dinner (barbecue) before we break for July and August. But that does not mean the OBWA executive won’t be busy. We are certainly due some rest after all the long volunteer hours dedicated to preparing for the Woman/Young Woman of the Year Gala. It was fantastic. The venue was the most beautiful we have ever had (thanks, Andrea Sullivan and staff of Best Western PLUS), the programs looked great as usual (thank you to Carey Frantz of Impression House and Sharon Van Noort), bios were well done again thanks to Odette Jakubic, and all the rest of the duties were performed so well by the entire Gala Committee which also included Susan Zaroski, Karen Layne, Tammy Kirkwood, Tammy Hudgin, Pamela Martyn, Linda Kranich, Leah Cavanaugh and myself. It was a lot of work but totally worth it when we get to see all the nominees and especially the recipients on their very special night. I must also give thanks to all who were generous sponsors for the Gala, who donated awesome door prizes and who attended the event.
This summer we are going to try something new and different. We want to have a newsletter go out to keep all of you abreast of happenings within the OBWA and community. So, don’t be surprised if you get a phone call from one of us! Thank you to all the members who came out and enjoyed our dinner meetings, who supported one another and made each night fun and welcoming. I leave you with this quote by Nanea Hoffman which I think embodies our incredible group of women, “NOTE TO SELF”: All you have to do is show up. Be late. Be scared. Be a mess. Be weird. Be confused. Just BE there. You’ll figure out the rest as you go.” And with the support of our members/guests you will have a fun and relaxing evening no matter how you show up!
