• Japanese beetles feed on a wide variety of plants and trees and can be in lawns as well
• Leave skeletonized leaves with only the veins left
• About 15mm long and 10mm wide with iridescent copper coloured wings and metallic blue-green head and thorax
• Consume leaf material between the veins of leaves
• May also feed on fruit
• Lay eggs in June which develop into tiny white grubs
• Adults emerge the following June and begin feeding and attacking plants in groups
• Adults live about 40 days and cause a great deal of destruction
• Can destroy crops
• Must be treated with an insecticide spray
