Crabgrass is an annual which means it dies in the fall. However, it comes back in the spring from seed. It germinates mid-May showing up as light green grass along side of driveway and sidewalks. It grows quickly and will smother existing grasses. It must be treated in early Spring. A healthy thick lawn will choke out weed grasses. Regular feeding and aeration will help to develop the thick green lawn you desire.
