• Light brown in color
• 3 - 4 mm in length
• Nuisance fly - does not spread disease
• Infest homes if there is fruit or fermenting beverages - wine, liquor or beer - spills or empty bottles
• Attracted to food, beverage spills, drains, garbage disposals, garbage cans, mops and buckets
• Multiply very quickly - a female can lay 500 eggs which hatch in 1 - 1/2 days        
• Dispose of overripe or decaying fruit,  wipe up spills and keep countertops clean, wash and keep garbage cans clean
• When appropriate, store fruit in refrigerator or sealed containers

• Very small - similar in size to a fruit fly
• Usually black or light brown
• Arched abdomen giving them the name Humpbacked Flies
• Feed on decaying organic matter (animals or food)

• The source may be broken pipes, drain leaks, clogged drains
