Outreach Programs

Scales Nature Park is an offshoot of Sciensational Sssnakes!!, the program that started it all in 1994. Since then, our highly acclaimed programs about native and exotic reptiles have been delivered to a wide variety of customers across Ontario and from coast to coast.

We now offer a variety of outreach programs including Reptiles at Risk, Turtle Troubles, and Wetland Wildlife.  Custom programs are also available, so please let us know your needs!

We are also the home base for the Reptiles at Risk on the RoadProject, which is a unique partnership between Scales Nature Park,Sciensational Sssnakes!!, Laurentian University, and the Canadian Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Network.  Through external funding, this project presents regionally specific programs about reptiles in target areas of Canada at no charge, with a focus on areas where our rare reptiles are actually found.  If you would like to learn more about this incredible project, have a look at www.reptilesatrisk.org.  We would like to thank Environment Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, NSERC, the Alberta
Conservation Association, and others who have supported this project since 2006.  Funding for 2012 is still pending; we are hopeful that the project will continue!
