Flat paint can look really nice on a door but it’s just not as durable for the hard work and cleaning that doors require in most homes. A satin paint will give you close to that look of low sheen but it will be much more scrubbable.
A semigloss paint will clean-up really nice and give you great durability.

- First, paint the edges around the door, top, sides, and bottom.
- Next, paint the interior panels. Typically, there are two square panels on top, two rectangular panels in the middle and bottom, for a total of six panels.
- Move on to paint the vertical strips between the panels.
- Then paint the horizontal strips at the top and bottom of the door.
- Finally, paint the vertical strips on the side of the door.
