When you wear your jewelry every day (especially a wedding set) you don’t really notice the wear and tear that the items may be experiencing.

Your gold may be dulled a little. Your diamond may be catching on your sweaters, scarves, and gloves. This may be a sign that the gem claws need to be tightened or re-tiped.
You certainly don’t want to lose your diamond or gems because because of this. 

Maybe there is a little extra build-up after sunscreen and salt water on a vacation.
