Babysitting Essentials Course

Babysitting Essentials is a 6 evening, 12 hour program designed for children who are at least 11 years of age.  They are usually just getting ready to babysit younger members of their own family. Parents bring their preteens to this program to learn the important safety aspects of babysitting and the practical skills needed to care for infants, toddlers and young children. 

This is a very interactive program that requires the participants to draw on their own knowledge and experiences in child care and put them together with new the new information they learn in the class.  

The program is very skills based.  The students practice the all the skills they are taught throughout the program.

One of the most popular parts of the program is the cooking class.  The students prepare, cook and serve an entire meal.  Everyone participates in the peeling, chopping and mixing.  Food is cooked by microwave, stove top and oven.  Beverages are mixed and the table is set and a great meal is enjoyed by the group. 

The program is taught as an evening program, in 2 hour segments over 6 weeks.  At the conclusion of the program, participants receive a Certificate of Completion of the Babysitting Essentials Program, a Babysitting Essentials Wallet Card and a Heartsaver Level "C", Adult Child & Infant CPR Card.

All of our first aid and CPR programs adhere to the standards set by the International Liaison Committee On Resuscitation which sets the standards for training agencies and medical professionals world-wide.

Students learn how to:

• get a babysitting job SAFELY and set their rates
• do a pre-job interview with hiring parents
• keep the children in their care safe
• care for babies, toddlers and young children
• make fun and easy meals
• plan fun activities for babies, toddlers and older kids
• give first aid for minor injuries
• give first aid for choking
• perform CPR for an infant or child
• be the babysitter everyone wants
