Dog Anal Gland Expressing

Description

Dog Anal Gland Expressing

A dog’s anal glands are little sacs that sit right inside of dog’s rectums at about 4 o’clock and 8 o’clock just inside of the anus.  They are designed to secrete really strong odor liquid that contains pheromones used for identification of members within a species.

If the anal glands don’t empty properly they can become impacted making bowel movements difficult or painful and potentially leading to infections or abscesses.

Impacted anal glands can often be relieved by manually expressing the fluid they contain.  This is a very unpleasant process.  Most people whose dogs need their anal glands expressed periodically prefer to pay to have it done
