About Us

Hardwood Ski and Bike has over 40 km of beautiful, rolling trails through hardwood and pine forests for cross-country skiing. The trail network consists of 8 different loops ranging from 3 km to 22 km.  There is a trail for every level of ability, from beginner to elite racer on terrain that ranges from gently rolling to challenging.
Hardwood grooms all of the trails for both Classic and Skate skiing, using the new, state of the art grooming equipment. This equipment allows us to groom in all snow conditions, no matter what. Voted 6 years in a row by Get Out There Magazine as the best cross-country ski facility in eastern Ontario.

With learning in mind, Hardwood Ski and Bike wants to make cross-country skiing accessible to anyone from 3 – 70 years of age. There are many programs in place from either helping beginners feel comfortable on their skis to training elite athletes on improving their techniques. Kids can enjoy the NordiKids or Fast Trax program while adults can enjoy a Ski Better clinic, Ski 4 Life program, or even a private lesson.

Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and fat biking are all offered at the resort; therefore, the whole family can enjoy the outdoor winter playground. With a food truck on-site serving delicious meals and snacks, a service shop for your entire rental, waxing and repair needs, as well as a retail shop equipped with cross-country ski gear galore, we promise you’ll have an amazing, full-service experience at Hardwood Ski and Bike.

THE SNOW!

We have great snow conditions from late November to early April. We average over 350 cm of snow every winter so even when there is no snow in the GTA…we have snow.

THE PROGRAMS

We have learning programs for all levels and ages of skiers. This is a place where the whole family can come to ski and have fun. There are lessons, clinics, kids programs, special events, racing programs, and races all winter.

TRAILS FOR EVERYONE!

A full variety of trails for all levels of skiers. We have over 40 km in loops ranging from 3 km up to 22 km. There are flatter trails for beginners and challenging trails for the racer. All of the loops start and finish at the Lodge.

DEDICATED SHOWSHOE TRAILS

Our 11 km snowshoe trails are separate from our cross country ski trails. There are loops from 3.5 km to 11 km with great lookouts to walk to.

IT’S SAFE

Hardwood is a safe place to ski. The staff members are fully trained in first aid and we have a Ski Patrol every weekend for your safety. All of our trails are one way, marked with clear signage, and are cleared daily of any trees or debris. At the end of each day we sweep our trails to make sure that everyone is safely back to their cars.

NIGHT SKIING

We are open 7 days a week and have night skiing Monday to Friday until 8 pm. We are open from 8 am to 5 pm on the weekends.

OUR STAFF

We are experts in all areas of cross country skiing and snowshoeing. We live these sports and can provide you with the knowledge and advice that you will need in order to enjoy your day. Plus – we are super friendly and go out of our way to ensure you have a fantastic experience.

LOCATION. LOCATION. LOCATION.

The area known as “the gateway to cottage country”; we are centrally located between Highway 400 North and Highway 11 North, 15 minutes north of Barrie, and only 90 minutes north of Toronto.

GREAT GROOMING EVERY DAY

We have state of the art groomers that can make great trail conditions regardless of how much snow there is or what the weather conditions are. We groom every night during the winter and if we need to groom again during the day we will do so, safely, with our smaller machines. Sure you can ski in any park with snow, but that is like trying to play golf in a farmer’s field. Once you have skied on our trails you will agree that this is the only way to ski.

QUALITY OVER QUANTITY

We specialize in cross-country skiing and deliver the best trails, conditions, services, and programs to meet your needs. Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and fat biking are all offered at the resort; therefore, the whole family can enjoy this outdoor winter playground.  With a café serving healthy, delicious meals and snacks, a service shop for your entire rental, waxing and repair needs, as well as a retail shop equipped with XC ski gear galore, we promise you’ll have an amazing, full-service experience at Hardwood Ski and Bike.
