“A boyhood dream was the beginning…”

Artist Dave Beckett
Dave Beckett, Artist

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1939, Dave Beckett began his art education at the age of thirteen with Edna Van Konnet, a Toronto artist. As a child, Dave was always drawing and interested in nature. In 1954 he began a career in advertising sales and marketing, a successful career that was to continue until 1979. After much soul-searching he traded his briefcase for an easel and a box of pastels, a new life he has never regretted. In 1986 he relocated to his present home and studio near Orillia, Ontario where he works and conducts workshops.  Numerous one-person and group exhibits has given him international recognition. His works have been featured in major art publications in Canada and abroad. Most recently he was selected to be included in a book published by “International Artist” … titled, “Work Small, Learn Big” available on art-in-the-making.com. Dave has been recognized for his work by the Pastel Society of America (PSA) and the Pastel Society of Canada (PSC).  His work is included in government, corporate and private collections in North America, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. “Coffee Time” (available in print),  an original pastel painting, was selected for the 2008 Ducks Unlimited National Art Portfolio.
Most importantly is that his paintings and fine art prints works are enjoyed by the general public!
“If I have projected a certain mood in my paintings that evokes emotion and lead the viewer to recognize the beauty that surrounds us, then I have succeeded.”
