I do not normally do this but I have been encouraged to introduce myself. My name is Mamie de Groot (Byrne). I grew up in the Orillia area. The majority of that time I have lived in Brechin . I am a mother to three awesome children , 2 wonderful son in laws . I have the cutest grandson on earth, the most amazing stepdaughter and granddaughter and the kindest most loving man a girl could ask for . I am 48 an RN and a business owner . Although I have owned Avaia for 5 years I have really just recently taken a more active role. It has been an incredible , humbling experience . I have learned so much and gained a much deeper appreciation for small business owners. I entered this industry on March 1 2014 with nothing more than a big dream, a very patient staff and a small group of people who believed in me . If it wasn't for these people my dream never would have blossomed . I began my journey to fulfill this crazy childhood dream to own my very own Salon & Spa. This was very bizarre as I had no previous experience in the industry . I have been a nurse for the past 25 years . The last 20 have been in the community as a Visiting Nurse with Bayshore Home Health.I have been very blessed to have had an amazing career and still able to pursue my childhood dream . I still nurse on a very casual basis . My nursing colleges have been very supportive throughout this journey . Accommodating time off , switching shifts and changing positions allowing me to focus on the salon. Avaia has undergone many changes in the last five years . The majority being in the last year. Many people have asked if there is a new owner. The answer is no but the truth is that it has just been in this past year I had the knowledge , courage and strength to take ownership of my salon and pursue my dream . I have made many changes as a result An overall makeover to the salon ( we're almost done lol) , increased staff (14), improved our service menu , and introduced spa and princess parties. I have taken huge measures to educate , empower and encourage my staff to follow their own dreams and focus on their passions. I have worked hard on creating a more positive , friendlier , fun atmosphere and most importantly , I have strived to give each and everyone of my clients an amazing and memorable experience . I am extremely humbled and grateful for all the support and love I have received over the last 5 years . Whether you are a regular client, a new client or a past client we have not seen in awhile. I look forward to getting to know you all and making many more friendships. I would like to make special mention to a handful of people who have been by my side from the beginning . My loving mother and sisters , my dedicated children , my supportive cousin , my amazing staff , my bayshore babes , my 2 best friends, my empowering group of business women and last but not least my wonderful, wonderful Dave??????Thank you all so very much xoxo

Avaia Salon and Spa and Orillia's Party Princess present a Mother-Daughter day at the Spa. Mom's will be pampered with an express manicure and formal hair style while their daughters will be entertained by Cinderella herself. Girls will also be treated to a manicure, mini-makeover and face painting. There will be crafts, games, and a tea with the yummiest of goodies. Both Mom and Daughter will go home with a Mother's Day gift.
